What are you're intentions for the board? You might consider one of the others depending on what you want to do.

I'll have to check that out.

PonoBill can point you in the right direction for Starboards in Oregon
http://www.kenalu.com/contact-us/ . I know he's traveling though so you might want to try
contacting Trident Sports the N.A distributor to locate a dealer.

Stoneaxe, would you know where to get starboards in Wa. or Oregon? I'm just starting out, and the 12/32 seems good for my purposes. I'm 220ish, 5'10" and I paddle ootrigger several times a week. What do you think? It sounds like they're durable, but I'd like to see one in person before I buy. Mahalo, James

Hi James,

I surf Nantasket (Hull) often, was there just yesterday. I haven't surfed Scituate yet. Keep meaning to head over there and its actually a bit closer to me than Hull but I have friends at Hull that I usually hook up with. More often than not though i've been heading to the Cape. Almost always bigger waves.

I still keep my fingers crossed for the ENE swells though that make Plymouth go off.

Next time you're in the area drop a line.

Aloha Stoneaxe, I'm originally from Boston, but was lucky enough to grow up on the E. side of O'ahu. I've longboarded Hull a couple times when I was visiting relatives a while back. Seems like there's loads of small wave SUP potential in the area. Have you ever surfed Scituate? James

first of all, yes Iinters (or flippers?) option is quite feasible: if the big wave closes behind me (either I outrun the wave or i want to take a wave and misjudge the timing, etc.), yes jumping on the belley closer to the tail works. in fact one doesn't even need to paddle - even if you stationary positioned with nose pointing straight to the beach and with nose stiking up a bit - one would be picked up by this wall of white water. from this prone surfer position it is very easy to stand up, so you are not obliged to ride on the belley all the way.
and secondly, in the situaion when you are riding down the line and see the lip starting to close in front of you, in this sitution one can make a turn down the face followed by immediate turn to restore down the line motion. 2 very fast shortboard like turns. In fact on a very late drop isn't the only option to start a bottom turn immediately (or rather simultaneously) with the catching the wave movement? on the late drop this is the only option IMHO. Otherwise the same story: either you pearl, or if you manage not to, you outrun the wave and it closes on you from behind the moment you stall on the flat section?
of course if it is bigger wave and it closes and closes and closes, there may be a need for not 2 but 4, 6,8... turns. but this is called surfing, isn't it? :)

I dropped 4...down to 246. I need to push my bud to get me that test. I'm thinking 225 is my goal but won't know until I get it. 10% body fat is where I want to be.

I can relate to the spasm.....I surfed for 7 hours last Sunday on the Cape.....chest to head high and glassy...how could I stop? Was posting on the zone later that night when both legs cramped at the same time. Almost fell over backwards in my chair trying to stand up quickly.

What happened to posting a weekly regimen in the forum?
