The guy who shaped my last board, Ward Coffey, is friends with Gerry and when he's in town they hang out with the family, go surfing, bbq, talk story etc. Ward's a great guy, so in my eyes that's makes Gerry the real deal. Gerry's real good at talking story, surfing, and shaping for sure. But I suspect that he had just a little bit of help when it comes to writing. That certainly doesn't make him or his work less genuine from where I stand though. Another nice piece Bill. Never heard a bad word said or written about Gerry.
