Things get a little whacky on the Stand Up Zone. Not only are these folks fun to shoot the breeze with (virtual breeze that is) but they are also remarkably creative. This is a set of recent posts on the Zone. To set the context, I had replied to another post that Dave Kalama’s recent split with Naish did not open the door to any kind of sponsor deal with Ke Nalu (as if we could afford to) because Dave has a long standing and deep relationship with Jim Terrell and Quickblade.

Since Dave Kalama is out of the running I thought I would take my shot at sponsorship by Kenalu.
I was out surfing the other day when this set comes through. The Kenalu screamed “Can you dig it, Can you dig it, Can you DIGGGGG IT!” And I said “Yes I can!” (see motivational video below).
Running counter to the collective self-preserving behavior of the world’s bravest surfers I was inspired, as the only Kenalu rider, to defy pelagic odds by paddling for what many called ‘the wave of the session.’
PS: No one is allowed to debate either this photo (which I assure you was not Photoshop-ed in any way . . . . other than to highlight the Kenalu), nor the term ‘collective self-preservation.’
